Lex August Laas

Hello there! I appreciate you stopping by! 

A little about me, first off my name is Lex (yes, like Luthor) and the arts have always been in my blood from when I was the tiniest of tots.  Some of my earliest memories include performing, I knew at the age of 5 that performing is what I wanted to do with my life. I liked to make people smile, and I found a personal satisfaction in other peoples joy.  

Throughout my life I have moved all over the world from New Jersey to Africa to Texas and everywhere in between.  Throughout my travels I've found that no matter what I did I could not stay away from the arts.  It always found a way to creep back in.  

I believe Julie Taymor said it best when she said "There is incredible power in the arts to inspire and influence" and it is a personal mantra in everything I do.  

I graduated with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting and Directing from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX.  The extensive curriculum at SHSU was focused on making its candidates well rounded in all aspects of the business.  A few of my favorite credits at SHSU include The Comedy of Errors, Enron, Dying For It and the Shadow Box.  I also made my Directorial Debut with The Storytelling Ability of A Boy which garnered a meritorious award for Directing and was invited to perform select scenes at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.  I currently reside in New York City and am represented by The Neal Hamil Agency. I love what I do and I am always searching for new opportunities to learn and expand my horizons.
